Agree, that is the correct way to go. In our Little league the powers that be in all their great wisdom do not give the choice to the kids. They have to play at their league age even if a kid would benifit from moving up to the larger field and getting that head start. The reason why? I know some of you can guess; So they will be on the 12 year old all-star team and make it stronger. Little league is to teach not to win titles. Yeah it is great to win the district 1 title and take a team to the state tournament. I know because I took teams recently to the state tourney 4 years in a row, but those boys were taught how to play. That is now showing on the JV team now. To be quite honest with you if We could have combined the Gate City and Bristol all-star teams the last few years we would have one numerous state titles. So in summation by those kids moving up at Gate City it will probaly cost their 12 year old little league team but the kids playing will be better off for it.

to my understanding the 12 year olds on the junior league played middle school ball this year and that is the only reason they were allowed to move up to junior league.gate city little league will not let anyone to play up and this is the only excepton. i do not fully agree with the not allowing to move up because last years cut off date was changed and it hurt a lot of kids. the gate city team that played on monday had 5 twelve year olds 5 thirteen year olds and 1 14 year old. the 2 pitchers were 12 year olds.

The Jr. League game tonight between Bristol Woodmen and Gate City has been called off due to SOL testing Friday morning. It will be made up at a later date.

I watched the whole game,dont know any of the kids for gc.The lefty pitched for gc and he seemed to be in control,i dont think he walked anyone and prolly had about 7-8 k's.Norton had 6e's and gc 2.gc hit the ball well off of hunnicutt,but they didnt touch daniels which pitched last two innings,dont know why he didnt start him he's the ace,oh well pretty good game though.Whish i could help u more,there was some good shots by those kids i mean deep hit balls.
